====== COSTING YOUR ARMY ======
{{ :ensemble-illustrations-armes-guerrier-gladiateur-medieval-dessinees-main_3115-64.jpg?300|}}Because wargames are so free form with regard to
the number and type of troops each side can have,
many players appreciate a points system that allows
them to evaluate the strength of their army. In this
way, they can field balanced forces against an
opponent by ensuring both sides have armies with
similar point costs. The following points system has
been provided so players can create balanced armies.
When using the points system, players should
always bear in mind, the minimum unit sizes listed on page 14 and are advised to utilise the Army
Guides provided at the end of this chapter.
Table one shows the basic cost of one figure in
each morale class, by race and troop type. The
costs featured do not include any armour or
weapons. Table two shows the weapon costs and
table three the armour costs per figure. Players
should not be deterred by the high values. These
are used to ensure maximum flexibility within the
system.

===== FLYING COSTS =====
Add the value of the flying creature into the normal
cost. Players should note that only those flying
creatures designated with an (R) or (RA) can be used
for this purpose. To ride a flying beast designated
with an (RA), the character will require the relevant
skill of animal control. All flying beasts with a rider,
fight separately and must be targeted separately for
firing and combat purposes!

| Horse Armour | 3 | Protects cavalry mounts |
**Cost Example**:
Two players wish to fight a battle. Player one has a
High Elf army and player two has a large, Goblin
horde with Orc and Ogre support troops. First of all
the players evaluate the value of the smaller high elf
army which consists of:
Ten guards (A) equipped with mail+plate, shields
and polearms.
Forty regular spearmen (B) in chainmail with
shields.
Twenty militia archers (C) in chainmail with
swords and elfbows.
Ten regular cavalry (B) on armoured horses in
chainmail, with lances and shields. The value of this
force is as follows:
* 10 x Guards (A) = 590
* 40 x Spearmen (B) = 1760
* 20 xArchers (C) = 860
* l0 x Cavalry (B) = 520
* Total = 3730
The owner of the Goblin horde now
knows how many points he can spend to create a
force that will balance the high elf army. He decides
on the following force:
10 Ogre bodyguards (A) in mail & plate armed
with axes.
32 Orc soldiers (B) in chainmail with
spears and shields.
40 Goblin tribesmen (C) with leather,
improvised weapons and shields
15 Goblin Raiders (B) with shortbows,
leather armour and axes.
15 Goblin tribesmen (C) with shortbows,
leather armour and daggers.
15 Goblin wolfriders (A) with chainmail
and spears.
* 10 x Ogres (A) = 490
* 32 x Orc Soldiers (B) = 960
* 15 x Goblin archers (B) = 450
* 15 x Goblin archers (C) = 330
* 40 x Goblin Tribesmen (C) = 840
* 15 x Goblin wolf-riders (A) = 660
* Total = 3730
These two armies are balanced and have made
allowance for the optional army guides that appear
at the end of this chapter. However they do not yet
include any characters or monsters, whose costs are
detailed below and should raise the value of the two
armies to about 5000 points each.
===== CHARACTER COSTS =====
The tables below show how to calculate the cost of
each type of character. The star symbol * means you
must multiply the given category by the number
following the star. For instance a Warrior Hero with
three skills/attributes would cost 3*15=45 in this
category. For racial character costs see Table One.
==== WARRIOR HEROES ====
* Racial Character Cost (mounted or unmounted depending on figure) * 1
* Command Factor * 20
* Morale Factor * 40
* Combat Modifier * 1
* Number of Skills and Attributes * 15
* Plus Magical Equipment Costs
* Plus Normal Equipment Costs
**Example:**
* Name: Elberon
* Status Minor Hero
* CF: 4
* MF: 5
* Combat Modifier: +55
* Skills/Attributes: Expert Spearman, Were Transformation and Endurance.
* Racial Character Cost = 110
* Command Factor * 20 = 80
* Morale Factor* 40 = 200
* Combat Modifier = 55
* Number of Skills/Attributes (3) * 15 = 45
* Sub-total = 490
* Equipment
* Spear = 7
* Sword* = 4
* Mail & Plate = 10
* Shield = 2
* Total Cost = 513
==== PRIESTS ====

Example: A player has a human Master Priest
with a CF of 3, a MF of 2, a combat modifier of 16%
and three skills/attributes. The cost of this
character is as follows:
